I Ordered Birth Control Online

Here’s how it went

Talking about ordering prescription medication online still feels a little shady: like I met someone in a dark alleyway, and I handed over a wad of cash in exchange for a paper bag of contraband.

But I tried it, and let me tell you, it is the future. It’s legal, safe, and a total breeze. I was going to write an article about the ups and downs of my experience, but it was all “up.” These are the steps:

  1. Answer a few questions.
  2. Answer one more question.
  3. Open the mailbox and take out a discreet package of birth control.

That was it. But if you’re interested, here’s the longer version.

I wrote a previous article when I first found out that I could get birth control online, legally, that could be paid for by my insurance.

My doctor used to be really good about prescribing birth control for me, but she left the practice. My new provider isn’t as familiar with birth control, and wanted me to get it prescribed by a gynecologist.
