I Took a Few Days Off From Writing
And it felt great — but I’m back
I took a break. Five days off from publishing, to be exact.
It felt amazing, but I’m ready to get back to writing.
Some people can write and publish every day, and that’s great. Someday I hope to do that, too, but I’m not quite there yet.
The reason for my nearly week-long gap was that I was finishing up a class that took up a lot of my attention. I was exhausted and couldn’t take time off from my job. So my articles here had to wait.
Still, I tried not to disappear. I took some time to work on my social media marketing and practice my photography. Both will likely benefit my writing career over the long run.
I’m glad that writing on Medium gives me flexibility. There are no deadlines, no schedules I have to follow.
Overall last month, I managed to stay productive, releasing 21 stories. That’s my most yet in one month. It paid off, too, with the biggest payout I’ve had yet. So taking a short break didn’t do too much damage.
But I want to write more. I used to worry about “quantity vs. quality,” as if I could have one, but not the other. I’ve found that that’s not the case. The more I write, the better and faster I get.
