Wirecutter’s picks can be really strange. I think they try to be like Consumer Reports, but their recommendations are often so bad that I wonder how much testing they really do. I bought one of their recommended picks recently and it was nonfunctional outside of the box. A quick scan of the reviews shows that happened to a lot of people.

I have also sometimes bookmarked pages to buy later, only to come back and find that the recommendation has changed.
